192 Laser Beams/Reservoir Release

Read a fascinating story online yesterday. Imagine a capsule the size of a BB producing as much energy found at the center of the Sun. May very well occur if scientists succeed in their experiment - "In a building the size of a football stadium, engineers have assembled the framework for a network of 192 laser beams, each traveling 1,000 feet (305 meters) to converge simultaneously on a target the size of a pencil eraser." Celebrated the release of my CD "Grande Reservoir" this last Saturday. Joining me in performance were guitarists Kelly Lancaster and Gary Seber. At the end of the evening I felt a sense of elation. We each performed for 1/2 an hour separately and closed the show with a piece in unison. "A spiritual musical experience," I told some friends today. I still feel quite moved from the energy of the show.

Chango Soul

A friend once asked "How can you tell when your listening to a great guitarist?" The answer was simple. "Soul" I said. Technical virtuosity matters not.

Checked out Houston band Chango Jackson more recently...in rehearsal and performance. Friends, brothers and mentors to me. Soulful and energetic in songwriting and performance. Managed their career at one time. Fantastic time touring..L.A., New York, Mexico, etc. Wild times and great memories. www.changojackson.com

Kirtley

Met with National Guitar Champion Pat Kirtley a few days ago. Hung-out from 11pm to 4am talking about music and playing guitar. Pat showed me this African rhythm played in triplets with the accent on every fourth note. Kelly Lancaster was also on-hand. Great time chatting and improvising . http://www.win.net/~mainstring/welcome.html
